Easy as Jailhouse Hooch

A vintner is a distributor of wine. The process of making wine has been done for thousands of years and can be easily handled in the privacy of your own home. Even prison inmates figure out ways to make hooch, low grade wine, while incarcerated in prison. Here are some basic instructions and a variety of ingredients you can use to see if you might be able to pull it off. If not, a UK vintner will be happy to sell you some of the finest wine in their collection.

While incarcerated there are a few options when it comes to brewing a stiff drink. Most supplies of sugar have been limited. The commissary carries only sweeteners, which will not help produce alcohol at all. Fruit, sugar that is stolen from the chow hall, and ketchup is collected by the men that make the hooch to complete a batch. Bread is used in the place of yeast. Water, any source of sugar that can be collected, and bread are all thrown in a garbage bag and hidden. When the reactions start to occur you have to let the air out of the bag occasionally to stop too much pressure from building up. After a few days, you are able to smell the alcohol and after a week it is some pretty strong stuff.

What to Use?

A bottle of wine starts with its ingredients. Grapes are the most commonly used item to make wine, but you can use just about anything to add flavor and alcohol content. Carrots have a bit of natural sugar, but you will need to add more if you want your brew to be potent at all. Maple sap can be used to make a very smooth and sweet drink unlike any other. Sour apples have been used to make drink called applejack. Milk has been used to make different drinks. Potatoes, rice, beets, dandelions, and honey are all common ingredients that work. There is even beer that is made from coco pebbles.

UK vintners have the job of distributing alcoholic beverages. If you need to purchase some, contact one and they will be sure to be knowledgeable about every aspect of the wine’s creation. From where the ingredients came from, what they were, and when it all happened for that bottle, a UK vintner will know it by heart.

Family History Plays A Role In The Human Rights Career Of Thor Halvorssen

The image most people have of a human rights activist does not usually include personal experience of how a loss of human rights can affect family members. Thor Halvorssen has spent the majority of his teenage and adult life handling the fact members of his own family have been stripped of their human rights purely because of their political beliefs; coming from one of the best-known political families in both Norway and Venezuela has been no guarantee of safety for members of the Halvorssen family.

The issues surrounding human rights began for Thor when he was studying at the University of Pennsylvania and saw his own father imprisoned and tortured by Venezuelan law enforcement officials. Thor’s father had earlier been appointed to diplomatic status as he investigated rumors of corruption within law enforcement agencies and Venezuelan drug gangs; the illegal act of imprisoning the elder Halvorssen lasted 74 days and resulted in bringing Thor closer to human rights groups when he began working to free his father with the aid of Amnesty International. Although the best-known incident surrounding the Halvorssen family may have been the imprisonment of Thor’s father the New York-based activist was also affected when his mother was shot by Venezuelan officials when she attended a protest against then-Socialist leader Hugo Chavez.

In becoming involved in the human rights community Thor Halvorssen has continued a long family tradition of looking to protect others from the issues they may face with human rights abuses. An incident of World War II is well known among the members of the Halvorssen family when Thor’s grandfather was working as the head of the Norwegian Merchant Navy and hoped to keep ships out of the hands of the occupying Nazi forces by sending them to Venezuelan ports following a physical fight with German officials. Thor himself has placed his own body on the line in the name of human rights when his interview with a Vietnamese political prisoner held under house arrest was discovered by local authorities; in order to protect the video of the interview held with the Vietnamese religious leader Thor and his camera operator refused to hand over a copy despite a severe physical assault.

The Lung Institute Is Changing How Doctors Treat Patients

A New Approach To Lung Disease

Lung diseases are some of the most devastating chronic illnesses facing doctors today. Even the best conventional treatments are seldom able to do much for patients besides offer some temporary relief and give a minimal quality of life. The work the Lung Institute is doing, and the potential it is unlocking for our future, is changing all of that. Once of the first researchers to find actual applications of stem cell therapy in medicine, the Lung Institute is changing the way doctors treat chronic lung illnesses and giving their patients a way to live their lives unshackled from debilitating restraints.

The Natural Healing Process

Lifestylesafter50 explains the magic of stem cell therapy is surprisingly natural. There isn’t some drug physicians inject or some invasive surgery surgeons rely on. Everything is focused on using the natural resources of the patient’s own body to heal itself. Doctors draw stem cells from the bone marrow of the patient and inject them into the afflicted areas of the lungs. After the stem cells are injected all the doctor needs to do is keep an eye on the patient and make sure the treatment’s progress is in the right trajectory. The body does all the work from that point. Patients treated with stem cell therapy offer amazing testimonials. They no longer need the oxygen tanks and inhalers that were once at the center of their lives. Instead, they rely on the long lasting results of the stem cell treatment.

The Future Of Stem Cells

The success of the Lung Institute isn’t simply a fluke without any meaning. It signifies a breakthrough with decades of research behind it. According to hawaiinewsnow.com since the early 2000s interests in stem cell therapy have sparked the pursuit of the first commercial stem cell treatments. With the introduction of stem cell therapy for lung disease patients, the Lung Institute is giving physicians in general inspiration. Doctors treating kidney disease may one day use this for diseases within their field. Others may choose to use stem cells to treat cancers or diabetes. Once the door is unlocked everyone can enter.
